Hi,

I'm new to this forum i have recently just bought a yamaha Rx-v565 receiver and panasonic Dmp-Bd35 Blu-ray and also Th-50pz80a plasma Tv. I'm having trouble with my receiver it takes about 2 minutes to start to play everything but once it starts everything is fine the Bd play's right through and i have the latest firmware up to date and i'm in australia.

Is this a Handshake and can it be easy fixed.

Welcome:D
Yes, it does sound like a handshake issue. Try different turn on sequence of components, perhaps the BR first, then the receiver and TV last?

1-2 minute loading typical for BD35

Monnie,

It may not be a receiver or handshake issue, but rather an inherent limitation of the BD35. I do not own BD35, but found the following while researching a future BR player purchase. According to CNET reviews the BD35 has a loading speed comparable to its replacement model, BD60, and both can take nearly 2 minutes to load.

From CNET's DMP-BD60 review:

"We also tested operational speed, which was comparable to last year's DMP-BD35. However, we had it set up with the BD-P3600, and the DMP-BD60 seemed sluggish comparatively. The DMP-BD60 isn't necessarily slow--and if you don't mind waiting a minute or two before your movie starts, you won't care--but apparently Panasonic didn't make the same speed improvements that Samsung did with its new players. The DMP-BD60 loaded "Mission Impossible III" in 20 seconds with the unit powered on and 24 seconds with it powered off (with quick start mode active). "Pirates of the Caribbean" took 1 minute and 53 seconds, while the same movie loaded about 35 seconds faster on the BD-P3600. "Spiderman 3" loaded in a minute and 27 seconds, while the BD-P3600 loaded it in about a minute flat."

If you see the BR 35 display on the TV when you turn it on, or a few seconds later, see the screen display that it is loading but the actual disc video is slow to appear then as the eagledriver said, it is the player's software that is slow to load the movie.
