I'm looking for an av receiver and i'm looking at the onkyo 647 which has HDMI for 700 euros and the onkyo 604 without HDMI for only 400 euros!!
Is it worth it? i still have an old television and i'm not really thinking about upgrdaing in the next 5 years or so. I am planning on buying PS3 and HD recorder.
Also, I don't find a lot of reviews on the onkyo's or marantz (which i'm also considering) receivers. Can anybody give me some good info on any? how is their sound?
thanx

TV connections

Gordon,
Go with the less expensive Onkyo for now. Your older TV probably doesn't even have HDMI inputs so there is no point to the switching feature on the receiver. Hopefully your TV has a component video connection and you can use the video switching on the receiver. If you upgrade the TV, it will probably include 2 HDMI inputs. If you need more than 2, you can add an HDMI switch.
Yamaha and Denon also make some good receivers in your price range.
