HDMI Colour lacking?

I've hooked up my Yamaha RXV 2600 receiver to my Infocus 7205 projector via both HDMI (SHR DVI Gear 10m HDMI cable) and Component (8M Liberty Comonent cable).

The picture is noticeably sharper and more defined via HDMI, but the colour is very washed out compared to the picture via the component connection.

Anybody know why this would be the case???

Would HDMI only provide good colour if the source is connected by HDMI - as at present everything is connected via component to the receiver and then upconverted to a HDMI signal?

If anybody knows why I'm lacking good colour of the HDMI connection I would love to hear it - as I really want that crisper picture, but can't seem to adjust the colour on the projector to match the saturation etc over component!

I've noticed this same thing on my TV. I have a Samsung Upconverting (HA!) DVD player and when I use the Picture in picture with Components and HDMI, the HDMI looks sharper, but the colors are flat and washed out compared to Components. Might return both TV and DVD player and wait for Toshiba's SED units anyways.

Very dissapointed. I won't touch another HDMI product until they get it right.
