HDMI CABLES whats the difference

I just spent $2600 for a plasma, $1200 for a Reciever, $200 for a DVD HDMI player, $150 for a "Clean Power" box etc.etc. After all of that I was told that I would require three HDMI CABLES $150 EACH to achieve what I had been gleafully gazing at for the past week while shopping in all of the Hi-Fi stores. A high end (for me) home theatre system.
First TO THE MANUFACTURERS, Its only reasonable that if a product is designed to perform to a certain level that at the very least you should include the needed cables with the item to achieve this objective. ie; I buy a high performance car, it should have high performance tires.
Second, Tweeter, In my view you have become no better than any auto dealer or finance company. I left your store two days ago and my head is still spinning. I am now resorting to the internet to find out what is truth and fiction after catching your salespeople in several lies about performance.

My Question to all Is their such a difference that I really need to purchase 150 cables as opposed to say...50 dollar cables? Also is thier an online reliable resourse for purchasing HDMI cables and which ones will simply get the job done. Sorry for the grammer, remmmmember. my head is in orbit

HDMI cables, being digital, either work or don't. A $20 one from monoprice is no different than a $150 one from Monster.

as much as this doesnt belong in this subforum, I also wish the 2600 had at least 1 HDMI cable included

I just went through four (4) - count them, FOUR - HDMI/DVI cables this week in testing out the new Westinghouse 42" 1080p display.

I can say with absolute certainty that not all digital cables are the same and, in fact, some just plain don't work. Faulty strain relief caused two Accell HDMI cables to fail on us and they are a name brand (they are working to fix the problem and seemed receptive to our feedback) so how well do you think other name brand or generic cables will hold up? The answer is: we don't know.

I've seen longer (10m+) cables bomb out on 720p, so it's not just 1080p that is the culprit.

We're currently working with the Home Theater Alliance to set up a certification program. Once that is in place, start looking for that on cable products.

I jusr ordered a 10M HDMI cable from Impact Acoustics. Has anyone used this product?

Impact, DVIGear and Blue Jeans Cable (among others) will be lined up shortly for cable testing... we haven't yet tested them under the new system we're developing with the HTA.

So far DVIGear has been completely reliable for up to 720p. I simply haven't tested them yet on 1080p material.

Buck...I was wondering about that......Is there any real difference between the component cables and reg composite? Shielding maybe? What's the difference/ And what about LFE Sub cables? Are they much different from composites? This is an area I dont know much about.
