I have an Onkyo S3300 just for my basic tv and I'm trying to connect my macbook pro to it to watch some movies and what not but I can't seem to get audio to pass through the receiver to the speakers. I have a MDP adapter that is fulyl capable of running audio out from the Macbook pro (i have done it many times before), as well as a hdmi high speed cable that also runs audio. In mac os x, when it detects an audio output, it displays it in the preferences as a selectable option for routing the audio out of the laptop, but in this case it is not recognizing that the receiver accepts audio.
Any thoughts?
BTW my cable box runs hdmi audio out to the reciever and works great
