hdmi and my denon

Good morning to u all. i have a philips dvd recorder with hdmi out. will it support multi channel audio through denon avr 3806? or do i have to get an sacd player?

You haven't given enough information for anyone to give you an answer. What model is the DVD? Does it say it will pass multichannel audio via HDMI? (my guess is it will).

oh its a philips dvdr 3475. not my choice of dvd but i got it as a gift. I cant seem to find in the manual or on the site where it passes multichannel.

Even without the manual, you can check the player's configuration menu and see what it says about audio output via HDMI, it should have some options such as bitstream/pcm, etc... and that should tell you if it will allow multichannel (DD, DTS) via HDMI.
