Hi I am looking for some opinions and advice. I just purchased a SONY Grand Wega 46" LCD Proj. TV. I will be installing a HD set top box I believe it is a SA 3250 not sure, waiting for it to courier. Will i be able to run an HDMI cable from it to the TV? I went out and bought a 4' Rocket Fish Cable. But... I don't think I need it. Cable Co. says I can use the component cable they supply and that the HDMI will not work. Also I am currently using a LG progressive scan DVD which I figure I can just run with 3' Rocket Fish comp. cable to TV. My receiver is an OLD Panasonic Dolby surround so I am very limited there. BUT I want to upgrade it very soon. My other question is when I do this should I buy a HDMI sound system ? Or would it make more sense to just get a system that uses component cable? I am real just confused here the guys you purchase from tell you to get an HDMI cable and another guy says NO. The TV I believe can be set to 1080 i res. but how would I do it efficiently ? I can provide more info. if needed. Thanks!!

I just got my SA3250 HD set top box and its DVI not HDMI and yes it does work and yes the component is the same quality as the DVi, i think it is anyway, the only reson i bought the DVI is cause the one Component out on my TV is not working properly. Oh and run all channels on 720P cause 1080i is gives a lacey effect.

Thanks for the tip!! I think I will run the comp. cable for now . I do have an HDMI cable if I could only find a use for it.... Probably an HDMI receiver . I hooked it up TV last night and got to thinking that my DVD has comp. cable to the TV but i just ran RCA for the audio. Would I notice a difference if I ran a quality aud. cable now or would it be more feasible to wait until I upgrade to a HDMI receiver? Can someone also explain to me how I up the res. from 480i to 720 to 1080 . The image from my understanding is in 480 now. When I put a movie on it says 480. Which brings me to the last comment about running all channels on 720 causes 1080 to have a lacey effect, explain please?
