HDMI 101 {question}

Is there REALLY any BIG difference in performance/picture quality in a HDMI cable that is ►$7.99 or ► $79.99.? I hear that they either WORK....or they DON'T- is it that simple.?

That's not quite as simple as a "yes" or "no" answer. There are some good articles that explain it. I'll see if I can track them down.

Typically, though, the cheaper cable will perform just as well for most people's applications. Are you looking to buy a cable, and if so, how long of a cable?

clearly its obvious.... The more money you spend, the better you feel, which equates into tremendous audio video performance... duh. Why do you think monster cables are the best! They make you feel good, and we all know that we perceive audio and video with the feelings they invoke, not silly things like our sight and hearing.

Its all about the psychoacoustics marketing.

So, spend as much money as you can on a single cable, the ideal situation would definitely call for a 2nd maybe even 3rd mortgage to fund the best cables known to man, I mean monster.

At short lengths almost any HDMI cable is capable of handling all current bandwidth capacity needed for audio/video. If the signal is getting through, there isn't a problem. Drop outs can occur at longer lengths with improperly sheilded or cables with high natural resistance. Resistance also increases as the length increases.

I also agree with Adam on the Monoprice HDMI cables. I've compared the buid quality on the Monoprice HDMI cables vs the less expensive BJC HDMI, and they are the same. In other words, they are both very good quality.
