Just curious to know if the HDCP 2.2 compliance is really that big of a deal? I mean, if someone was to buy a 4K tv that owns an AVR that can NOT pass 4K video how does he get around that issue? If someone owned a 4K BR player couldn't he just connect it directly to the 4K TV? Then, use the digital out or optical out to connect to their AVR that is not 4K compliant? Is there any real disadvantages in doing so? I know there are more wires, and etc. by doing so does it really have much of an impact on the sound through the AVR? In other words, by connecting a 4K tv to a AVR that is HDCP 2.2 compliant is the audio that much better via hdmi as opposed to just using the digital/optical outs? Still a bit confused here about this. Appreciate any clarification here. Thanks!

I would think that one would miss the HD audio. Another way is for the BD player to have two HDMI out as does the Oppo that can be designated for audio and video direct to tv/projector.
I have the 103 and like that feature even without the 4K.

I see. Never knew the Oppo had dual hdmi outs. Have they always offered that for the most part? So, digital out/optical out is NOT as good as hdmi audio? Figured there had to be a trade-off somehow. That would explain why so many folks are concerned about HDCP 2.2 compliance. Never owned an Oppo. Any other brands that offer dual hdmi outs?

I don't know when they started but the 103 has it and most likely the 105 as well.
Optical and the digital coax outputs the lossy codecs. The hidef on HDMI, are lossless, no perceptual coding.
Quality is up the the listener.
A Google search my answer about other makes with dual outs.

Yeah, I did google already. Not much luck in that regard. Just good to know a bit more about the HDCP 2.2 compliance factor. Guess it is a much bigger deal than I first anticipated. Thanks for your help!
