Does anyone know if any of the major manufacturers are planning on releasing units with HD Radio tuners ?

I believe both Yamaha and Denon already have units with built-in HD radio receivers

I went to both the Yamaha & Denon websites. From what I could tell, unless I missed it, Yamaha only has 1 receiver, the RX-V4600 that has HD radio capabilities. It looks like Denon doesn't offer any. If I'm wrong, please let me know. I'm definitely surprised that there aren't more models available. I'm going to be in the market soon for a new receiver and would definately like one with HD radio. There are at least 3 radio stations that I know of in this area that are broadcasting in HD. And each one of those are broadcasting 3 different varieties of music. That's 9 channels to choose from already. HD radio is free, XM radio is not. I like free :)

HD Radio Tuner

Jack,
There are only a few high-end receivers with HD radio built in. You could buy a tuner like this:
http://www.radiosophy.com/products.html
and use the digital connection to connect to any receiver. If HD Radio becomes more popular and demand increases, you should see more tuner products and more receivers with the feature built in.

I would certainly agree with you, but then we're back to the old addage - how do they get more popular if people can't buy them in the first place ? Definitely a Catch 22. But, I'll still keep my fingers crossed.

Car's can and will make HD radio more popular.
There are a bunch of HD car receivers out there.
On Crutchfield alone, I counted like 22.

If I'm not mistaken, JVC makes the only car receiver that has the HD tuner built in. I believe Kenwood and Alpine have add-on units for about $200 not including the price of the head-unit.

Yup. Thunder, I believe your right. The 22 I found were 'HD-Ready'. They do not have tuners built in.
Eclipse has a tuner ad-on as well.
