HD player/720p projector vs. dvd player/1080p projector

Just a thought, which would produce a better picture:
an HD player with a 720p projector; or
an upconverting dvd player with a 1080p projector?

...on the same size screen, say 80-90".

A much better picture would be had from a 1080p projector and a hi def DVD.

A standard def DVD upconverted will still be limited in resolution to the original signal, in this case what is on the DVD.
But, an HD player, HD DVD and 720 will be better than a 480 DVD upconverted.
