Not to sure how the oppo fits into HD minus upconverting function. With HD the safe bet is to get the dual format players. That being said you could also back what you think will be the winning horse. From what I have seen in store Toshiba makes the best HD player and I am a fan of the PS3 as a bluray player, especially because of its other features.

Are there any in particular you are looking at or any features you are looking for?

Amazon has been selling the Toshiba HD A2 for $237.88. At that price it is a much better value than the OPPO. I would never spend $1,100 for the LG combo player.

All the Best

My friend had both the A2 and the 981. He said the 981 is a better upscaling player than the A2, but of course you don't get HD-DVD with the Oppo.
