This was is awesome - I got the toshiba HD-a35 for 239 bucks (my old dvd player only converted up to 1080i) and about 30 hd-dvds (7 for free and the rest for 18 bucks a piece at walmart. I don't want the war to end I love the prices!

Clearance sale? I hope so... but then the blu ray prices will go back up and I don't wanna pay 30-35 dollars for a movie.

If that is a correct attribution of cause and effect
I doubt it very much. I bet that it is a natural cycle in sales and that very few heard the announcement outside of audio related boards.
