I recently heard a rumor that warner and paramount were dropping the hddvd format. Anyone else heard this to be true or just a rumor?

Warner is going Blu ray exclusive for sure, as far as Paramount goes, I believe it's in the works, just not official yet.

Looks like the tide has finally turned against HDDVD. Seems about 70% of the movies are going to be Blu-Ray. Sure hope the standalone players start falling in price soon, and we should see fire-sales on HDDVD players and movies. About time

Welcome to ten days ago. :D ;)

WB made an announcement immediately prior to CES that they would be dropping support for HD DVD come the end of May 2008.

Paramount has made no such decision at this time, though some rumors indicate that they may be looking to go 'neutal' again before long. This is merely rumor and speculation, as is any pending change by Universal.

There were details of the WB change in most national newspapers. The Washington Post had it on page 3 of their business section.
