Help. I use Windows Vista on my laptop. I tried to download the firmware update to my dvd player. The dvd player would not automatically find my IP address so that I could download the firmware. At&t told me to ask Toshiba. Toshiba told me to ask At&t. I used a regular phone line to hook into my dvd player from my laptop. So please what am I doing wrong or really who should I ask? I also downloaded the update to a cd-r per the dvd instructions and then when I put it into the dvd player it said I needed dvd format? what the...........Thanks, Sandi

How did you burn it to the disc? It has to be done a certain way or it won't work. I don't recall if I used a CDR or DVD when I did mine, but it worked with my A2.

I went into the Toshiba website and following the instructions downloaded the firmware onto the disk. It appeared there were no problems with the disk and then when I inserted the disk into the dvd player it would not recognize it because it was not dvd format....

Well, you can also request a disc from them. Do you have a DVD burner? Sounds like it won't take CDR. My Denon players were OK with the firmware being on a CDR, but the Toshibas may not be.

Not sure how you get Internet in your home, but if you use a hard wired connection using a CAT-5 cable, then that's typically the best way to connect the player so it gets an IP address properly.

My parents had a similar problem when they tried to update the firmware on their Panasonic DVR. If I remember correctly, they put the files on a CD-R just as they were downloaded - as .ZIP files. They didn't extract them first. Perhaps that's happened here, too? Just thought that I'd mention it in case it might help.
