having problems operating my NAD T763 receiver

Hello,
I finally connected my T763 receiver to my speakers and my LCD screen and spent all time needed to go over its manuals (it has an OS ver 2.0). However, I faced a few problems which haven't happened to me before with any of the AV receiver I used:
1. I don't have DTS, DTS-ES or any surround modes which have "DTS" in their names when changing the surround mode used.
2. I don't have a Matrix 7.1 surround mode.
3. When the LCD screed is showing the GUI there are unexplained flickerings once in a few minutes (it's not a constant time). I have checked more than one cable and more than one video connection in the monitor so the problem is fur sure from the receiver.
4. The PL II modes (movie and music) don't reproduce a 5.1 sound. I hear "PSSSSSS" noise from the rear speakers and not what I expect. As opposed to this, the "enahaced st1" mode is working excellent and all of the speakers are well heard. I haven't faced such problems with any of my past receivers.
Any help solving this issues will be highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ariel

Through the set-up have you changed the setting to 3.1+ (not sure how to do this on a NAD) if you only have two channels set up then it is possible that these digital modes will not work. (Happens to me on my Pioneer). As for the issue with the GUI and Hissing i can't come to a conclusion. Best bet is to take it back the dealer and ask for an immediant replacment.

Hold on. I have your answer for the first two questions
1. DTS
2. Matrix

I'm sure your other receiver was a Pioneer :p This company carries these DSPs. Don't even bother finding them on the NAD; there just isn't! Every brand has its own. NAD didn't put money on bells ans whistles but they made an awesome job for sound quality. Just enjoy your 2-channel music/enhanced stereo/PLII:Music! :p

As for the PSSS sound from your surround speakers. Are you in the same source? Because each source can carry its own settings. Maybe your CD playback is set on 3.1 like JMO_PWR said. If not, just try to unwire all your receiver and start again from the begining. Check the settings (OSD) for speaker setup --> 2.1, 3.1, 5.1, 6.1, 7.1

Other than that, I think you'll have to contact NAD for that issue (and for the flickering thing as well). Good luck
