Hey guys, first time Threader, would really enjoy your feedback

Having a problem deciding on a sub, Ive narrowed it down, really like svs. PB10NSD, would be willing to buy 2 or PB12 NSD I could almost get 2 it would be getting alittle pricey but almost doable.(Maybe one of each) I would be willing to get PB12 plus for 1. I really want it to pound hard. A friend of mine has a Klipsch RW10D he loves it, the problem i have is that the port is downfiring and I have carpet, is that going to make a big difference. And Like I said I really like svs but the NSD series is an older sub. In comparison to the Klipsch witch is digitally controlled. (I know I think I just compared Klipsch to SVS) The room I am using is 12x15x8 and is open to the kitchen by about an 8 foot opening.

Thanks alot TMan

I like the way you think regarding dual subs. However, your room is similar in dimension to mine and my PB12-Plus rocks my room. When I say rocks my room, I mean literally shakes everything and vibrates stuff off my coffee table if I want to play at that level. I keep the power level on the sub at less than a quarter to blend with my mains so there is actually a ton more capability in this sub that I am not using. I kind of think in a room that size, the PB12-Plus on it's own is more than sufficient. IMHO.

Also, carpet has no effect on a subwoofer's output. The wavelength at these frequencies can be like 20 feet of more and you would need several inches of dense acoustic material to have much effect.

You'll want to include the kitchen into the room size calculations.

I am a huge fan of Klipsch speakers. However I am not a fan of subs made by big name manufacturers like Klipsch, Yamaha, Polk or Pioneer. I really feel that they just basically make subs just to have something else to sell to you. I have had much better experience with subs made by independent distributors such as Epik, eD, SVS and HSU. I would totally recommend the SVS sub if you are thinking about it. If you have a large room then 2 subs is the way to go. If you just want to rock a small room then a larger single sub it much better.

FWIW the PB10s will be on back order till may, if that matters:( And dont believe the marketing hype around the Klipsch.

I recommend that you call svs and speak with them, as they will give the best advice possible.
