Hi,
I am not expert here but this is my suggestions.
- If you set your speakers to large then the BASS will be sent to speakers and the sub ( Xover freq set by receiver) so if you don't know what it is, set your Xover on your Sub to max so don't cut off freq quency.
or
- Supposed your speakers can handle low freq, don't send bottom low freq to your speakers because they can't handle nicely as your sub.
Depend how good fo your speakers, set the Xover Freq of speakers at around 40hz, 50Hz, (it's your call) and then set the sub crossover freq (from your receiver) at 40-50. By doing this, all the freq below 40,50Hz will be routed to the sub. This is the beauty of sony ES which allows you to adjust Xover freq.
Xover on your sub is always set to max or larger than 40-50Hz so you don't cut off signal from the receiver and create a gap.
From then you move you sub around to get the best position, set the distance , level, equalizer...
if you have different sublevel for your music and movie, i recommend you have 2 EQs one for msuc and one for movie with different sub gain.
My set up:
- All speakers are set to small,
- Xover for speakers are 50 Hz for all speakres(since most speakes handle 50hz easily)
- set XOver for sub is 50hz.
- Set Xover on the sub is 100Hz
Hope this help and welcome other suggestions or comments.
