Have you noticed at AVS Forum?

Have you noticed at AVS forum that the moderators have been on a rampage, especially in the subwoofer forum? I've been seeing a lot of locked thread or deleted threads regarding "this" versus "that" threads, or the usual "What do you think about 'X' subwoofer".

On one hand, it is kind of refreshing to see a a decrease to the typical threads with topics that has been discussed to death. At the same time, it has gotten a little boring.

Oh well... That's life I guess. :)

The mods seem to be attempting to cut down on fanboy marketing which has been a bit out of control. I believe they are trying to get the emphasis back on being a "help" forum, rather than a "promotion" forum.

Good luck, AVS has become a hive of scum & villainy that I do my best to steer people away from the site as often as possible. Its worse than the Chevy vs. Ford forums sometimes.

I think AVS may be a little on the heavy handed side right now in regards to the subwoofer forum. I agree with Ajax that it seems to be an attempt to cut down on the fanboy marketing, and it seems to be working out.

If you want to talk about one sided fanboy marketing, visit HTF. It is no wonder that the traffic there has gone down. Not a whole lot of unbiased posting over there.

Just has more traffic...new members and buyers get pretty enthusiastic, ask the same questions, get the same answers. It does get tiring. Some of the editing is irritating, but I believe that they are just trying to get it under a bit more control.

Lately, you will not see a single thread title with *** in the title but rather a model number. I agree it gets out of hand sometimes, but a little ball breaking also makes it fun.

One thing I have to wonder about is seeing *** ads on other forums but not AVS. I'm not saying that's the reason, but could that be a factor? Let's face it, *** has made a lot of money from those posts.

I've noticed that too. Yesterday, there were a whole bunch of *** threads, and they are no longer there today. I would hope that they are not focusing on *** company, but who knows. I do like conspiracy theories... :)
