Have to build a new system

So I'm getting divorced and the powers that be decided my ex should get the speakers lol. Anyway I am looking for new speakers for my living room. I would like floorstanders for the fronts, bookshelfs or surrounds for the back, and a center. I have the receiver and subwoofer. I would like to spend $1500 or under. Its a rectangular room that is roughly 10 x 15. I have an Onkyo 705 and a HSU sub. Any suggestions? Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the suggestions so far guys. My previous system was the paradigm monitor series. I had monitor 9 fronts, cc290 center and adp190. At the time I was also considering Aperion, Axiom, and PSB. I was also interested in the monitor audio rs6 fronts and building around those. I had any experience with the EMP speakers so I am doing some searching on here and reading up on them. So far my interests are focusing on Axiom (m60 fronts, qs8 surrounds, and the vp150 center) and maybe something from the PSB Image line starting with T6 fronts. Again I'm also interested in hearing the Monitor Audio rs6 speakers but can't find any. I know they have the new rx line out but I was hoping to save a little going used.

I would higly recommend auditioning the T6s from PSB. I have an older PSB Image suite of speakers having chosen them over Axiom and the Monitor series from Paradigm. I couldn't step up in to the Studio series of Paradigm becuase it would have destroyed my budget.

I have never gone through a divorce and hope I never will, but from what I can tell, most of our brains and ears just don't do so great during this time of period!

There is just too much emotions and distractions.

Just get through this tough time first, and then we can talk some speakers!

AcuDefTechGuy, your heart is in the right place, and you mean well. But...

This is exactly the time he needs to go buy some new speakers. The process of trying to choose your next audio toy is a helpful and welcome distraction in itself. Then when he gets them all set up, he'll have a happy-place of his own to go enjoy some peace.

Thanks guys for the advice lol. I think you both have valid points. I don't know which approach is right. Although I really have an urge to be impulsive and buy something new lol. Anyway, I found a great deal on Axiom m60's. I think I am going to pick up the vp150 center and then get psb image t6's and the matching center. I'll do an in home comparison and then either return or sell the ones I don't wish to keep. Sounds fun anyway. I'm going to Chicago for a few days and always see Saturday Audio Exchange on audiogon. They seem to have some good deals on PSB right now so I'll probably stop there to check them out. Thanks again.
