Ok, so just when I thought I had everything callibrated on my new setup I notice that I am getting a buzzing sound from the right rear speaker. Only coming from the tweeter. I disconnected the speaker wire from both the receiver and the speaker and after re-connecting the buzz is still there. Its not even noticible unless you're sitting within a couple feet of it but it is there and its really bugging me. Any ideas?

Are you that close that you can hear it, a couple of feet?

There are a few experiments to eliminate ground loop by disconnecting your cable TV to the audio chain, your receiver. Best if you just disconnect it at the wall or cable box and see if that noise goes away.
If still there, swap some interconnect cables and check where the speaker cables are running, not next to power lines.
If still there, it most likely is that receiver has a problem in that channel.

good call they are near a power cord. I will try that next. I did try moving a different speaker to that spot and it was still there. So the speaker is not the problem. I then tried hooking up the surround left speaker wire into the surround right input on the receiver and the buzz WAS there. So now I am thinking maybe it is the receiver's surround right output. I will try to move everything away from power cords and see if that is the culprit. thanks for the help

On second thought since I already tried other wire in the same surround right port and the problem persisted I bet it is the receiver. This is a real bummer. That means I have to take it to a service center 3 days after hooking it up or ship it back to HK which would cost a decent amount of cash. Wish me luck fellas. I will still try unhooking the cable. Any other ideas are greatly appreciated.
Also, in answer to your question mytr, I am not sitting that close to the speaker but when I have company over and people sit on the corner of the sectional couch they will be that close.

ok now I am noticing a buzz from not only the right surround but the left surround as well. Still only from the tweeters. I don't know what this is from. The house I am in is really old and I'm not sure the electrical wiring is even grounded correctly. I could go under the crawl space beneath the house but I'm not even sure what to look for. Could this be the problem? Oh also worth mentioning is that all the speaker wires are running underneath the house so the problem could lie under there.

Try a run inside with new wire to see if it goes away. I am sure you have thought of this during the time it took me to type this.:D

Also, if it's only coming from one speaker, swap the speaker with one that is not making the noise and that will tell you whether it's the speaker or the wiring or receiver. As suggested in the previous post, running speaker wire temporarily inside will eliminate that variable, so you will know pretty quick whether it's the speaker, speaker wire, or receiver.

He eliminated the speakers as the problem.;)

Yes, check the speaker wires under the house and see if it is next to power lines.
Not much you can do with the house grounding.
Did you check about the TV cable to the audio system? Disconnect it and recheck for the hum.

ok well I tried unhooking the coaxial cable from the cable box and the buzzing is still there. It is equally loud from both the left and right surround speakers. I don't have any speaker wire laying around the house so I am going to pick some up tonight and follow you're advice by running it inside the house. Wish me luck

You might have a loose wire or short in your amp.

I had a buzzing issue with my H/K AVR7300 and took it into the shop. Seems during shipping, a screw got loose in the amp and was grounding out the transformer.

If yours is still under warranty, take it into the shop. They'll fix it free of charge. :)

thanks wnder that is likely what I will have to do. I didn't get a chance to pick up speaker wire today but I will do that soon and then if it is still buzzing when I run a wire through the inside of the house then I will take it to the shop. Thank God for warrenties :D

getting frustrating

Ok so I took the receiver in for service a couple days ago and wouldn't you know it? when the guy hooked it up to his small cheap bookshelf speaker the buzz was not there. I told him I could bring in one of my speakers and I am going to have to end up doing that. He then hooked my receiver to a larger more expensive bookshelf and I could just make out the buzzing this time though it was not as loud as at my house. I left my receiver with him and told him I would bring one of my speakers in so he could hear it himself (he claimed to not be able to hear it even in his larger speaker). Bummer is he wont even be able to look at it for 8 more days. So yesterday I hooked up my low end Onkyo receiver to tide me over till I got the HK back. I checked every speaker closely... There was no buzz whatsoever with the Onkyo. So the HK has to have a problem. I just hope they dont open it and say they dont see anything. Wish we luck fellas!

can you tell me if you have a power bar hooked up with coax protection on it and if they are near your speakers,if so do not run it through the bar and to your unit,You may be getting a loop and will cause a buzzing sound like a transformer running.
