I was wondering for some suggestions on placement for my center channel speaker, my flat screen is only 2 inches deep, and my center channel is like 7" deep and 6" high? some one give me a suggestion!

What I ended up doing was going with a TV stand that had a shelf just below that could accomdate the center channel. Granted it's not the OPTIMAL place for the center (higher would be better) but I think its a good compromise. I made sure to get a tv stand that was open as to not impede too much on the center's sound. Later on (when i am no longer renting) I am going to place the center channel on the top of the TV stand, then wall mount the TV so that it is just barely higher than the center.

Here is what I got now:

I was referring to using a speaker stand just for the center. I presume you are either talking about mounting the TV on the wall which would make the center stick out if you mounted it on the wall also, or you mean that you previously had it on top of your TV and now there isn't room because the TV is too thin.

Some loudspeaker manufacturers make plasma series speakers that are thinner. It is kind of a bummer to have this thin TV and then a big rectangle under it haha. You could also look at in-walls (sealed inwalls).

i take it that your main speakers are on the floor, shelf, or stands. my point, they are out from the wall. if so, i see it being ok for the center to be out from the wall.

i don't like speakers that are forward of the display. so i would move the tv out some.

The speakers should always be in front of the display if you want good sound. Placing them even flush with the display will destroy the imaging between the speakers.

ok. but i will disagree with that. mine are flush, and it sounds like the tv itself is the speaker, with a wider sound stage.

That is fine that you disagree, however you could also give it a try and hear the difference for yourself. It can take a few HOURS to find the right location, but I promise you that you can hear the difference for yourself.

Ideally there should be NOTHING between your main speakers but that isn't likely in the typical HT, mine included. Proper spacing and placement of the speakers will have a large impact on the quality of your sound.
