Has Anybody Started Christmas Shopping Yet?

Of course, it's that time of year again..........
I have no children of my own (see below). I have no nieces or nephews under 18 years of age and they have no children, yet.

Call me a Scrooge but the present exchange thing is getting old. I'm not cheap in any way (I know somebody was going to say that). I'm just tired of trying to figure out what to buy people that don't need anything or just act like they like it. I admit it, I'm tough to buy for unless you know my hobbies and likes. Example: I told my mother I wanted the The Evil Dead 2 (Book Of The Dead Limited Edition). She says she won't buy that .........it's what I want?????

Most of the time people want to give gift cards. WHY BOTHER?

All right, that's it for me. Let me go back to my bedroom and wait for "The Ghost of Christmas Past". He makes his rounds every year at my house.

I started earlier this month, has some PayPal money left from selling my DVDs, so I have my niece & nephew all bought for.

My Xmas rule:

*If you're over the age of 19, don't expect anything. Xmas is for kids. If you buy me anything, I'll get you some scratch-n-win tickets (everyone loves money).

I never buy giftcertificates unless you tell me a specific store. Don't make me guess your hobbies (Hey new in-laws... you look like the Home Depot kinda people).

EXCEPTIONS:

1. Buy the spouse something. Anything.
2. My father, who has a long established hobby of collecting french LeCreuset cookware, gets a new piece every year. (It doesn't make his cooking any better).

Yep...already got my neices (got 2 now, as of last week) taken care of. Still clueless on what to get the wife. "Look, honey! I got you a new subwoofer!" hm...maybe not.

I agree Major.

I don't buy for people, but I'm 18. Still, it pains me to see people try to buy for people without consulting them. I'd rather buy what someone wants, and have them less suprised, then guess and hope.

The wife does all the shopping. She even buys herself a gift from me. I'd rather buy online than fight the crowds. I'm an electronics guy. Everything electronics is less online. I buy for my younger brother and son, and that's it. I'm really considering an XBOX 360 for my brother. My 2yr old son would probably have difficulty understanding the controller.

My wife and I only buy for our immediate families and everybody is fine by that. Takes a lot of the hassle and stress out of the holidays. Everybody emails a wish list of things they would like to each other under a certain amount along with one extravagant "bonus" item.

Some items from my list:

-any of the Bic acoustech speakers(minus the h100)
-new logitech laptop speakers
-Starwars Battlefront II
-numerous DVDs
-Radio Shack SPL meter
and either a Springfield XD .40/ Glock .45 GAP/ or HK USP .40c

not yet. I did drop a hint about a good universal remote for < 250 to my wife. She told me if it'll eliminate all the remotes in the basement, order it!
