Has anybody bought anything from JaguarAudio.com?

I was introduced to Darin from JaguarAudio.com by my long-time industry friend, Dave Nauber, who now runs T+A. Jaguar Audio is a T+A dealer as well as a lot of other brands that we review like Estelon.

His goals are ambitious with other players like Audio Advice, Crutchfield and even the likes of MoonAudio.com and AposAudio.com in the space.

What my friends say is that they really like having a person that they can call who doesn't blow smoke when they have a question. Real advice. That's a good thing!

Have any of you worked with Darin?

Come'on Jerry, the T+A isn't the best introduction to most. Hopefully Darin doesn't push their products as magic, or at least is honest about their snake oil.

Darin is a pretty straight shooter, I am learning.

I am trying to help him a little bit with this business. His aspirations are ambitious but you gotta love that!!!

T+A stuff is great. We have their HV integrated in as well as their $18,000 all-in-one "integrated" too. I hate to call $20,000 components a "value" but compared to other audiophile brands today - they are actually inexpensive for what you get...

I'm glad you're satisfied with their products, I'm just not going pay their prices when I can avoid them. I have high end speakers and that is where my money goes. I sold off most of my McIntosh gear and funded 3 rooms, lol. Hopefully he is a great dealer, which we all want, but that particular brand isn't sold on me.

How can you say they are "expensive" when their stuff is no more expensive than say a McIntosh C2800 or a pair of MK1.25KW. (I just reviewed both but aren't published yet).

The stuff isn't cheap but it is a bargain compared to D'Agostino, Soulution, CH Precsion, Gryphon, Boulder etc...

I guess it is all relative.

If you like T+A but don't want to spend the money, have you looked into SPL?

I just bought their $2,600 preamp which competes with the Pass Labs XP-22 (I still want one of Wayne's preamps BADLY) nicely and is a KILLER deal.

We gave their $4,100 DAC preamp the SPL Director MKII our 2024 FutureAudiophile.com Product of the Year.

I also reviewed their top amp, the SPL Performer S1200 which was like 500 watts. They have smaller versions that sound the same with less power for thousands less.

This is a real sleeper if you want incredibly designed, great sounding German gear.

I didn't say they were expensive, I said I wouldn't pay their prices with other products available. Have a great evening.

Yes, its expensive and in "Audiophool" territory. Mac for one is not worth the money, and there are rational and reasoned arguments against their auto transformers. Those Estelon speakers are hooked up with "funny wire" which is a sure tip off you are in for a fleecing. This is the sort of scam we try to alert people to here and not encourage.
