Harmony One remote issue

After changing over from Sat to U-Verse, I can't get my remote to "update".

When I plug in the remote it says "Communicating with your Harmony Remote. This may take a few minutes" and never updates or shows an error code.

The only thing different that I can think of is the new Anti-virus software (ESET NOD32) but I have disabled that firewall and I don't see how I can disable the anti-virus on it.

What else can I try?

Try completely turning off your antivirus to see if that makes any difference. Also, you could try running the harmony software on a different PC to see if that makes any difference as well. I've had my remote hang up during an update before, but re running the update fixed it, I've never had a consisten problem with it before. I guess if all else fails you can just contact their tech support, which I hear is pretty good.

I don't really know how to turn my antivirus completely off.

I don't have another computer to test it.

Seems like you have to pay to talk to their support on the phone now.

Could it be an issue with FireFox vs. Explorer? That's something else that has changed.

Have you tried taking battery out of your H1? What about a different USB port on your PC? Lastly they (Logitech) have a very good forum you can try. There is a guy over there that goes by wannabe acturary (or something like that) that is incredible and has tons of knowledge about Logitech and their products. Here is the link: http://forums.logitech.com/

Looks like it was a FireFox issue. I switched back to Explorer and it download fine.

To turn off your antivirus just right click on the icon in your system tray, it should give you the option to disable it temporarily, or turn it off completely. As far as your browser is concerned, I'm not sure if it would make a difference, but it would be an easy thing to test, and wouldn't cost you anything.

edit: I see you figured it out. You may still want to visit the logitech forum and ask if anyone has some settings that would allow firefox to work, but then again for as often as you likely need to update the remote, it's not really that big of a deal to use IE.
