I have HK520 an a HK100 that is linked to it for 7.1 my question is am I missing out on sound quality? would there be a diff. in upgrading to a HK635?

Probebly yes. However you have to consider whether the extra money on a new receiver is worth it (expessially if you dont need the features) as a new receiver of the same brand even if its a model up sound differance will be minimal.

Dont forget alot of people argue that there is very very little, almost indistinguishable between late model amps/receivers.

So listen to one on demo or ask people. Your best bet is your own ears ;)

Goodluck.

I was thinking more of the 635 because it has the easy spl. speaker set up in it. also I need a new remote my kids killed mine by leaving it in the chair an it got mangled in the chair mecinism(sorry wrong spelling) an HK wants 200 U.S. to replace it. I'll probably wait a bit till the price comes down on a new HK.

Nice room:D

Is there anything you are missing with your present setup? Do you hear distortion? Crackling at high volume levels? Receiver shut downs?

If not, don't waste your money and time.
If yes, you would need a lot of extra power to overcome your deficiencies. 3dB gain doubles power needs.
