Hi there, first post ever, looking for some help. I inherited my father's JVC turntable from when he was living in Tokyo, Model is QL Y55F. I am trying to find a good, older receiver and wondering if a Harmon Kardon AVR 75 would be compatible? Really know nothing about this, would just love to listen to my dad's (and my own) old vinyl on his turntable!! Any advice would be appreciated!!

That avr has a phono stage, so could work (even has SQ decoding for quad). Pretty old for an avr, so not up to date on connectivity or codecs, tho. What speakers would you use, tho?

haha, good question! Any suggestions? My sentimentality may be getting in the way here...

Budget? Also curious, is there some reason you're asking about the HK avr? Got a good deal lined up or that comes with the tt ?

yes, HK is part of an estate sale near me. Easy and pretty cheap. I have the turntable (was my dad's), just need the the components so I can use it.

One thing to check is to make sure the cartridge/stylus on the tt is in good condition.

Does the estate sale have speakers, too? Budget?

Not enough info. Monitor Audio speakers? Which model?

this is all older, vintage stuff, so that would be the vibe. Not wanting to spend a ton of money but if I can get surprisingly good older stuff for not much money, would be happy to do that

Old stuff just may have more issues. It's generally not an advantage....nostalgia/sentiment, sure. Speakers do tend to last if they're not abused.
