I was flipping through the ads in my local Friday paper, the ads in the paper take up twice as room as the news but thats a rant for another day, and came across the Futureshop flyer. They had the nerve to show the three Harman receivers they have on "sale" this week. The AVR 635 is $1799.00, The 435 is $1499.00, and the 335 is $1,299.00. By the way you can pick up the 7300 for a steal, only $3,299.00. Now I know with the exchange rate being what it is the prices are somewhat closer than they appear, but I mean come on! This is freaking ridiculous! Also don't forget that we in Ontario have to pay 15% tax. That means that that 7300 you guys can find on sale for about $1400 or so costs us $3795 after tax. We can't order from the States to get savings because we won't get a valid warranty, and these prices are pretty much as good as it gets on Harman products here unless you can swing a deal or know a guy who knows a guy. I will not say Harman makes a bad product. I think that they make very nice quality components. I will never buy a Harman product until they are cheaper here though. Yeah we take a fairly decent hosing on Denon and Yamaha products, but if we shop around the prices come down. With Harman we can't even buy off of their store on Ebay. There is no good reason for the price differences being so dramatic that i am aware of. Maybe they just hate Canadians? Nah, we're too lovable and sweet for that to be true. Oh, just to let you know, the MSRP of a Harman AVR 135 is $800 Canadian. Anyway, that's my rant. I put in a link to the harman section of futureshop's page so you guys can have a giggle.
