Harman/Kardon, KEF, Pioneer.....at Target?

I was at Target today and came across all of these brands. Is this old news? Admittedly, I don't get out to Target much, but I've never known them to sell this stuff. Have they been selling these brands for a while? Seems like an odd offering, but what do I know. Just thought it was interesting.

Nope, just a regular ol' Target.

Most KEF's are made in China now, not the UK (snif!), so I'm not drop-dead surprised. Nonetheless, this just seems wrong to me somehow. The Union Jacks on the backs of my KEF's are starting to smoke.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, there's no mention of KEF on their website, and they don't have them at my local Target. (Super OR regular) This may be a thing for that local store.

Of course, those speakers also look an awful lot like the KLH speakers that target.com IS selling.

Yeah, I must say that I've never seen this at any other Target. I don't know why they'd be at this particular one, but they are. Very odd. I mean, it's not the highest level stuff, but that H/K 240 is a really solid receiver and so is that Pioneer...at least as far as entry-level stuff goes. I'd have never expected to come across it. Least expected was the KEF stuff. I mean, that's certainly not a brand an average consumer has heard of.

Ah, if that were only true. I think that $299 price is for the subwoofer/satellite set sitting on top of it. They're selling the AVR140 for $389 on the site, so I don't think that can bet the case. Too bad...if that was the price, I'd run out and snatch it up!

I saw the Harman Kardon and a few other upscale brands being loaded on the shelves at a Target here in California.
