Hey. Ive been looking to put in a home theater system. I dont like HTIB's, since i dont need another dvd player (ps3), and ive heard some which arent quit that impressive. So, I decided to buy separate reveicer and speakers, and i found that the 605 and HKTS were liked on the web. However, I have 2 questions:

1. My room is around 17x15. Is this an optimal size for this setup?
2. The subwoofer is 200 Watts. Some out there are 250. Will be any difference in the sound, based on the size of the room?

Thanks for all your help :D

It should be OK.

All other things being equal, an increase of 50 Watts from 200 would hardly be audible in terms of loudness. Sound quality on the other hand may be very different between those subwoofers, but amplifier power output cannot tell you anything about that.

Thanks for the reply. However, I just realized a had some more questions. First off, how far apart should i place the surround and front speakers? My room is a perfect rectangle, so there are no things to block the speakers. Also, will it be fine if the front speakers are about 14-16 feet from the couch, and the rear speakers are within 2 feet? I hope that audio calibration will be able to "fix" it, but im not sure. Despite all the great reviews online, im still iffy about these speakers. Does anyone have these? If so, please share your experiences with it, as it will help me make a decision. Finally, are there any other speaker systems you would recommend, that are not above the 1k mark (preferably 500 or less.)

Thanks again!

HT speakers

The receiver setup will compensate for the speaker locations and levels.
If you speaker budget is $1k, check out the SVS 5.1 system or the AV123 X-series speakers.

If you want to get the HTIB satellite speakers, you might save some money and get an entry level receiver in the $2-300 range.
