I have a AVR 7300 receiver that I bought new and has been a great receiver, but it now has developed a problem keeping it locked in mute mode. If you try to take it out of mute by using the volume up button, the amp will play loud, but only for a fraction of a second. I took the unit to the authorized repair center in Indianapolis and they informed me that the DSP board is bad and not available from Harman.
I worked for Harman for 15+ years, so I got on the phone and made numerours phone calls to old friends at Harman, but as of yet have not found a solution to getting a board. Harman's receivers seem to have quite a reputation for failure of these boards. Anybody know of a source of new\old stock, or someone who might have board level repair experience?? I have had a large number of Harman receivers over the last 20 years. Mainly because I was able to purchase them at attractive employee prices. I also have had a large number of those receiver fail. This 7300 had been a flawless performer since 2005, but the AVR 7000 before it was a total POS! I had 7 of them, all with DSP board issues. Anyway, I ramble. Any suggestions on a source of repair??? I would like to salvage this receiver, but I imagine it's just time to upgrade.

over here, the techs that work for HK know where to source specific parts (i.e. capacitors, etc.)
i think an EE with some time can help you. (better if he's worked on receivers like AVR techs)
