Harman Kardon 254 Surround Channels Help

Here is my problem, I have a 5.0 speaker setup.

I just finished doing the EQ setup with the microphone and im watching Star Wars : Empire Strikes Back on DVD.......I can hear sound from all five channels but when I look at the front panel of the AVR where it shows the speakers setup 'With the middle man surrounded with speakers". I see the letter L and R on the front left and front right but I can't see the SR, SL, C lit!!! Even Thu the small boxes are lit. now I went back to the AVR's user manual and it says if the L nd R are only lit it means that the input is an analog signal and only these two channels will be enabled, ..... im I doing something wrong??? i have the movie set to 5.1....help.

How is the dvd player connected to the H/K? You require at least optical cable for Dolby 5.1
Did you do the speaker set up on the H/K and choose 5.1?
Did you hook up your rear speakers to SL and SR? It won't work if you used SBL and SBR.

I ignore their little speaker logos. I find them to be misleading. If your getting sound ignore it.
