Hardcore and Indie Rock Music Thread

My first introduction to hardcore metal and all the cool subgenres was about a decade ago - the album that started it all and completely got me hooked was Poison the Well: The Opposite of December. It led to a fondness of the works of The Dillinger Escape Plan, EveryTime I Die, Converge and Isis to name a few.

In the indie scene some of my favorites are Minus The Bear, Chore, At The Drive In, Modest Mouse.

What I really love about these genres and songs range from speed, technicality/difficulty, breakdowns, odd-time signatures, melody, multiple vocalists, especially in the instance of singing drummers!

this is a very talented genre of music with alot of potential for growth, one of my favorite genres actually, ive recently discovered an awesome HC band that is one of those i can listen to over and over and never get tired of the song, Cancer Bats is the name.

here is a sample of their material.

I know of one other person on this board that likes this type of music. I have seen a few other references in the past to some HC bands but not much.

i guess its just me and you then unless someone else steps up, too bad, theres alot of true real talent in this genre, no dime a dozen soundalike rock bands that plague the music genre these days, i guess i will continue to post some suggestions for you then.

Ohhhh this is my kind of thread.

Poison The Well, Everytime I Die, Atreyu, Death by Stereo, The Blood Brothers, Alexisonfire, Fear before the March of Flames, It Dies Today, Killswitch Engage, Protest The Hero, The Fall of Troy, The Mars Volta. Most of the harder stuff I listen to. I have been on a soft streak lately, but everyone once in a while I need some hardcore.

To the original poster: love Minus the Bear. Those guys just keep getting better and better.

I listen to a lot of indie rock type stuff but not too much hardcore anymore.
Some of my favorite bands that are still active:

Bloc Party, Brand New, Coheed and Cambria, Crime in Stereo, Kevin Devine, Dredg, The Gaslight Anthem, Incubus, Lemuria, Manchester Orchestra, Minus the Bear, Moving Mountains, Oceansize, Polar Bear Club, Silver Mount Zion, Thrice, Thursday, TV on the Radio.
