Hi there,

I'm presently looking to buy a Subwoofer to go with my new Yamaha RX-V659. My room is about 13' X 35' long. My budget is about 400$ (with the shipping if I buy on Internet). The thing is it's my first time that I buy a subwoofer and for what I've read so far, the size of the room seems to be important.

My choice so far was:
1. Energy - S10.3 That I can get for 330$ at Futurshop

2. Ikon 15'' at 400$

3. Infinity PS-10

Thank's for the help. If you have any other choice it will be great. It don't bother me to buy on Internet but I would like to keep my buget in 400$ and under shipping included!

Thanks guys
Fred

Your room is kind of big and I don't know if these subwoofers will totally fill that volume.

Dayton C1500 15"

How about 2 of these?

That's a good sized room. I would call the sub companies to get a recommendation from them.

The av123 x-plosive will be $399 I believe...when ever it comes out...and of course that doesn't include shipping. http://av123forum.com/showthread.php?t=25933

Thank's for the response guys.

Sheep: I'm from Quebec city in Canada.

Another question: Is the room size have an impact for the choice between a 15'' vs a 10'' ?

Yes, but a well designed 10 can be a better choice then a inferior 10.

I have experience with the S10.3, and I would take it over the others mentioned. I couldn't find the "Ikon 15" but I found a Dali Ikon subwoofer that was a 12inch. Doesn't sound like a well built subwoofer IMO.

Canada sucks when it comes to cheap subwoofer solutions.

www.sonicboomaudio.com is SVS's Canadian distributor, and HSU has dealers in Canada. I would look into those, unless you want to DIY.

It was Caribou season in Quebec City last week.

A subwoofers performance is more then just the size of the driver. Cabinet volume and design, amplification, and driver are all important when it comes to subwoofers.

SheepStar, I wanted to post the URL but it was not working. If you type Ikon Audio you will find theirr website.

I think for 320$ +tx the S10.3 is a good price ? Am I Right?

Thanks' for the help guys!

I finally bought the S10.3 today and it seems to sound very good ! The thing is that in the owners manual it said that I need to do a break-in period for about 50 hours before I try it with full capabilities ?

Is this break-in period very important ?

after some research with the search tools, I will not do the break in and try it ! thanks!
