I'm sure the Native Americans on the forum aren't so thrilled with this holiday. Nonetheless, I wish everyone a terrific and safe Thanksgiving. Remember, there is always someone or something for which to be grateful. Now is a great time to tell them or give appreciation when it's deserved. (Days off work, football, large meals, and Black Friday are just icing on the cake.)

Four years ago I was in the middle of radiation treatment for a complex Stage IV cancer with the outcome in doubt. Even though I couldn't eat anything except turkey broth, I cooked the entire Thanksgiving Day meal for my wife and her family...turkey and the works...just because I was so grateful to have that one day to be ABLE to cook. Pardon if this is silly or perhaps mushy, but each day is like another step in a long walk. Take one step at a time and always appreciate the journey.

I appreciate you kind people who have shared this forum with me. I am thankful for your wisdom, humor, and help. I'm blessed to know you, even if only by sometimes goofy screen names on a 17 inch monitor. :)

Much good cheer to all.

PS: And soon I can ditch that avatar that so disturbs Adam, lol. ;)

That is a rather disturbing avatar... just can't exactly say why... Happy Thanksgiving, all!

Excerpt about the first Thanksgiving as described by Edward Winslow in his 1621 Journal of the Pilgrims at Plymouth:

Our harvest being gotten in, our governor sent four men on fowling, that so we might after a special manner rejoice together after we had gathered the fruit of our labors. They four in one day killed as much fowl as, with a little help beside, served the company almost a week. At which time, among other recreations, we exercised our arms, many of the Indians coming amongst us, and among the rest their greatest king Massasoit, with some ninety men, whom for three days we entertained and feasted, and they went out and killed five deer, which they brought to the plantation and bestowed upon our governor, and upon the captain, and others. And although it be not always so plentiful as it was at this time with us, yet by the goodness of God, we are so far from want that we often wish you partakers of our plenty.

If you remember we briefly posted about my father-in-law and his radiation burnt throat, chemo sickness and feeding tube... (sorry people but it is an ugly thing) I did not have to go through it but it does make me reflect...I am thankful for many things...

EVEN YOUR AVATAR that makes me chuckle when ever I see it!:D

Keep on keeping on buddy!:) and a Happy Thanksgiving to all!!!

What's even funnier about this is that the title of this thread is "Happy Thanksgiving" and right below it on the forum is the word "Tomorrow". Is it a coincidence that it says Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow when Thanksgiving is indeed tomorrow?:D

Excellent

perspective in life RJ. Although I haven't gone through anything like you! I believe your motto of "each day is only a small step in one's life in relation to the long journey" that as we mature(ok get older) it seems that life seems to slow down! The only expection though is each passing day goes quicker, then yesterday. So IMO everybody take it easy and have a great Thanksgiving and enjoy the moment.

I have an extra reason to be thankful this Thanksgiving.

About a month ago my pet manx got out while I was at my office. Despite hunting high and low I was never able to find her. I had given up hope when on Monday evening my wife heard her in the driveway. By the time I went outside she ran into an abandoned shed down the street. After 30 minutes of emptying the shed I finally got her (along with a few bites as she was frightened and starving). It took an hour but she finally calmed down and returned to her old self. She was one skinny Manx. We all missed her terribly and are very happy to have her back. She is gaining her weight back (She must have weighed only 4 pounds Monday evening) and back to her affectionate self. I'll take her to a vet on Friday as a precaution. The Manx is a very hearty breed, fortunately. I'm really thankful to have my little friend back.

I'm happy for you to get the rascal back. I dig manx cats. They're more like dogs than cats. The orange one was one of my all-time favorite pets.

I just want to wish all a Happy Thanksgiving!
May you all get to spend a relaxing day with the ones you love.

Here's the new addition to my household, "Lucky"

He wondered into our lives at about 4 weeks old as a very sick little kitten. He's now 12 weeks old.

I dunno, ML. He looks like a subwoofer explorer to me.

My loved one has to work today....keeping America safe...well, sort of...keeping cops in line and doing their hated paperwork. ;)

Happy Thanksgiving!!

I am soooo hungry!!! It's 1050am......70 minutes and counting until we feast!!

Ya think I should go help my wife in the kitchen? HEH

The funny thing is my wife generally doesn't want my help because she says I get in the way:D

For us....Turkey day is always a quiet day with just the wife and kids.

Tomorrow: Thanks. That is a geat looking Manx. His face reminds me of our male Manx Barney except for being grey and a stubbie. Wonderful breed.

Loser: Nice looking tabby with clean lines but what's the tail for?:D Zelda, my manx looks very similar (sans tail).

We're having a late dinner this year. A very Happy Thanksgving to all, especially those away from home.
