I was quite disappointed, even with my muted expectations. John Travolta just didn't to it for me. He was so flat and painfully in drag that he reminded me of those old WW II movies where soldiers dress up like women to raise morale. Lest we forget, the monarch of all drag queens, Divine, originated the role and nobody else has come close. Harvey Fierstein could do a decent job (he did it on Broadway for a while) but instead, we got John Travolta. I was also disappointed that the other subplot (the integration of Twisted Acres, a stand in for Gwynn Oak in Baltimore) was dropped from the plot.
