Had a stranger over the house tonight to listen to turn tables...

So on another forum a local gentleman from the Boston area contacted me, since he was stuck in between buying 2 turn tables, both of which I own and both of which he hadn't heard... He lives outside Boston and I sent him my number to call me when he would be in the area..

Well, he called last week and I explained my wife is ill and he completely understood, was very polite and we spoke for a bit about local and audio stuff, very nice guy..
So today my wife went with her sister and friend to get her hair "did", and I was home alone, kids were out, getting too cold for the lake house, and I seen one of his pm's on avs so I gave him a call, he happened to be doing nothing of importance {watching Ironman 3, lol}. So I told him to swing by, he lives about 50 minutes from here and was here about 50 minutes after we hung up...

I gave him "the tour" and he brought 3 albums, all of which I own, lol.. So we played some music through both of my tables and I pulled out a couple automatic tables I have {denon 300f and lp60}, the denon wouldn't spin for some reason but he listened to the lp60 and was impressed, but agreed it was not the "look" he was looking for, he wants to spend no more than $500 and is between the RM 1.3 and the Music hall 2.2 {I have the le, but he wants black}...

I showed him how they are very similar, the RM 1.3 is a little classier and looks fancier than the 2.2 le, the 2.2 comes with a dust cover which he liked, but he really liked the looks of the 1.3...

He was also interested in how the anti skate worked, and I showed him its just a simple weight and string, no big deal, not really hard to setup and then I never touch them again... its kind of nice looking, both tables use project arm assemblies, the 1.3 is easy to knock the belt off if you are not paying attention, but looking at the MH's drive system can be scary when you notice the motor is literally hanging by a string, lol...

So anyway he decided on the RM 1.3 with the optional cover in the future, I told him I don't like the idea of the cover that doesnt flip up because now you have to put it somewhere when you are changing music, thats too much work...

He loved my tekton lores, lol He is going to order a set in the future for himself, lol Figures the most unimpressive speaker I own is the one he loved, although he complimented all of my systems, but obviously anyone would to be polite, he invited me to his home for a look at his system {pair of kef ls50's {which I ownd} powered by an outlaw receiver...

Anyway, figured I would share, I have yet to meet {in person} the audio enthusiast that was not a gentleman {in person}...

If that's a personal goal I can accommodate you but you're gonna have to read up on 'priced to sell' ... here, let's practice: How little money would you accept in exchange for your Music Hall 2.2 le?

See? Now you come up with a number that you might like to pay for one and then that's the number that you ask for. We work down from there. If you have any questions you can just ask Adam. He knows about where this number needs to be for us to meet.

But I don't want to sell the music hall, lol... I actually have sold about everything I want to sell... I have a spare xda2 I was on the fence about selling, but I think I am going to keep it...

But for example a music hall 2.2 le, in the condition mine is in {perfect, used but not a scratch on it, I even put clear bumpers on the dust cover so it doesn't touch the red finish} with a $400 ortofon cartridge in it {just installed}, a $50 music hall decoupler mat, and I still have the never used factory cartridge, all the factory packaging, ect.. To replace new would be around $1000 so I would pay for one in my condition $700 if I really wanted it, in other words if I was going to buy one new for $1000 and someone said I have this one for $700, I would rather spend the $700 for the slightly used perfect condition model...

See when I sell stuff, my son enjoys listing it on ebay, he takes the pictures, writes up the listing, deals with the buyers, packages the items, ect... He actually bought a complete older bose system {no hdmi on the dvd player/receiver box} for $25 at a yard sale he went to with my sister... He took it home, and I was like "what are you going to do with that?", he cleaned it all up {it was like new, had all the original packaging}, tested it all out for about a week in his room, and then listed it all on ebay, piece by piece, not as a complete set, and in the end he ended up with over $800, lol... So when I sell stuff like that I let him handle it, I give him a "cut" of course, it keeps him busy and he learns about money...
