I have been reading about doing that. How does it run? Make sure you don't do the Apple software update or you will break it. Turn off auto updates.

i used iDeneb v1.4, its been optimized for netbooks from dell, acer and msi. its really easy and very stable. its similar in performance to my girlfriends macbook dual core. The internal wifi is flakey so i had to use a usb adapter. It dual boots with windows7 pro, so i can use both. but ive been on the mac kick for 2 weeks now......

there are a few versions of iDeneb and iAtkos that have been optimized or have instructions for most intel and some AMD PCs. Do a bunch of forum cruising and youll find the answers.

I don't think I would ever want a media center without CCCP/WMPC...:D

If you running OS-x 10.x on your hackintosh, you can try Plex or Boxee for Mac, but then again they both work fine (or better) on regular linux and windows.
Basically, if your netbook video card couldn't be used by Plex/Boxee - it'll make both useless since Atom processor is way too weak to handle anything more than plain vanilla dvd (mpeg2) and thats on the good day

My htpc running on Ion platform, and due to included nforce 9400 gpu im able to watch 1080p/dts videos on it without any slowdowns

I have a Dell mini 9 that I Hackntoshed... The one thing that is nice about the Dell units is I have done OS updates and never had a problem.

I guess I would look at your current rig and ask yourself what benefits would you get from putting mac on it. I find The mac os something that is 100% preference based, so if you enjoy it more, I would go for it. That said, you seem to not much care too much either way and I just don't seeany added benefit to having a mac in the media realm plus since it is a hackintosh you could have to deal with other unexpected problems, so if you are on the fence I would just use win7.

well said. i have looked into a home theater specific OS but haven't found anything. windows 7 is difficult to navigate from 10 feet away. i would like to dual boot with some lightweight interface that can be used with a remote or that rii mini keyboard. i was thinking a wiimote would make a good mouse pointer as well. im also going to look into that.

ideas anyone?

What is interesting is Apple freaks out when a company makes hardware that can run their OS, but they seem to ignore people who hack OS X to run on other hardware. Weird. Really at this point in time they should just bring out a version of OS X that runs on other hardware than their own. I know all the issues with drivers and it not being as stable, but they could get around all that by just not supporting it. I think the benefits of letting people play with OS X would far outweigh any sales they would loose in hardware. But hey what the hell do I know?

Remember they tried the clone thing... It brought out some innovative companies with some "better" hardware than what was coming from Apple...but it also brought compatibility issues as well...plus Apple took a hit in the pocketbook...
