H/K AVR 147 Not detecting surrounds

Hey guys....

I am trying to use the EZSet-EQ feature with my setup mic as I cannot locate my SPL meter and when I run it I get to the surrounds and the receiver doesn't detect them even though I get a test tone out of them. Any ideas?

Does the microphone position have objects (like the back of a couch) significantly obscuring the sound from the surround speakers?

Nope none at all.....I even put the mic on top of a box so it would be at ear level.

You've got me stumped.

You say that you get a test tone, and I'd like to verify my assumption on that. When you say that, you mean that the set-up routine plays a tone through them but doesn't detect that tone through the mic?

Run the test tone again to ensure you didn't swap the surround left and right speakers.

I was thinking that, but wouldn't the receiver still say that the speakers were hooked up even if they were reversed?

Good question Adam...probably can't tell the difference now that I think about it. Maybe polarity is incorrect or one speaker isn't working.

Thanks a lot for the help guys.....

I do have the polarity correct on both speakers and they are both working perfectly.

I do have both speakers on their appropriate left and right channels.

I do not have any idea why this will not work.

I was thinking maybe those speakers aren't as effecient as my front soundstage so the mic will not detect them.

I know the mic is not defective as I have used it on other receivers for auto setup.

Any more ideas?
