H&K AVR 145 on screen display problem

Hi there,

I was wondering if some people here could help me out with a problem that came up with my H/K AVR 145. I am trying to access the on screen display but I am only receiving a distorted signal, with no visible menu. I am fairly confident that I am following all of the instructions that are listed in the manual properly (i.e. using either composite or S-video cable monitor out, since the OSD cannot be accessed through the component video out)

Has anybody ever encountered this with an H/K receiver? I did a system reset, but it didn't fix the problem. Is there any other form of reset I can do to fix this? I sent an e-mail to the H/K technical support, but nobody is responding. It's under warranty, but I would prefer not to lose it for a month if this is a relatively easy fix.

My ultimate goal is to be able to set the crossover frequencies, so if anybody knows of a way to do that without accessing the OSD than I would greatly appreciate the help.

Thanks in advance!

Are you hooking it up to the "Monitor Out"? That is where it should be at least on my AVR 135 so I assume it's the same on yours. Also maybe if the S video doesn't work maybe try the composite out.

I had this issue when I setup my AVR 147.....I ended up changing the OSD color from blue to gray. It resolved my issue, but the OSD is still a little distorted. Do you have a flat panel?

Hi, I hooked it up to the monitor out, and tried it with both the composite and S-video and neither worked :-(

It's a picture tube tv. It's not the input on the tv because any other video source works with the inputs.

Also, the OSD used to work, but for some reason it just stopped. I would change the background colour, but I can't access the menu at all.

I would guess that this could have been messed up as a result of some kind of power surge. I'll probably have to take it in to get checked out, but any help is appreciated!
