The only thing I really notice is the auto equalizer. After using my Auto Equalizer on my Pioneer 1014 I'm not so sure I really need that feature. What would I be missing out on if I descide to go with the 435 over the 630.

Why the jump from Pioneer to HK?

Why are you jumping from Pioneer to Harman Kardon?

What pricing are you getting on these units?

There is 10 watts less per channel. One unit weighs 39lbs, the other 41 lbs. They are very similar units.

The 635 is $598 at Lets Go Digital - open box.

The 435 is $559 at yahoo.shopping

Harman Direct on ebay has some nice auctions going now.
The 7300 is bidding at $539 with 18 hours left (its $1350 at www.jr.com).
The 7200 is bidding at $305 with 19 hours left. Watch this one!
The 630 is bidding at $167 with 21 hours left.

If I were you, I'd be bidding on the 7200 and 7300 models if you really want to see a difference. I just don't know your motive.

I'm not impressed with the Pioneer sound. Too much emphasis on the highs as opposed to the H/K which (I feel) has a much smoother sound musically. BTW stay away from Lets Go Digital bad bad bad online company. Just check out their Better Business Bureu rating.

Interesting. A lot of members here would swear the Pioneers are smooth. How long have you owned the Pioneer? Is it not possible to "eq out" the highs?

The 630 doesn't have DPLIIx, although you can get an update that's applied with the RS232 port on the back.
The x35 line has one more coax digital input & one more optical digital input. I have a 325 with 2 each, & an extra coax input would be nice, along with an extra s-video input (I don't have an HDTV - yet).
I'm pretty sure the 635 does video conversion. I don't think the 435 does & I know the 630 doesn't.
I use mine alternating as a 7.1 setup & with the sb amps as zone 2. I find the zone 2 to be limited with no video output (I use a chipped Xbox running XBox Media Center), so if you think you might find zone 2 handy, you'll probably want one with video out. None of the mentioned HKs do.
