out of all the home theatre systems i've bought over he years (i've onky bought 2, hehe), there is one thing i have learned, bose is amazing.
now, although bose is crappy sounding, overhyped junk, no highs no low's etc etc, one thing that is amazing about those speakers is the resale value. these speakers hardly drop in price.]

i used to have the acoustimass 15 II (ohh boy, big mistake. over 3 years of pain)

when i was a wee lad (grade 9) i bought those speakers for around 1K, three years later, i sell em for 800. after i sold them, they came on sale at futureshop for around 1000$ (same price i bought them at).
if it is one think thats good about bose is that those things hardly depreciate in value.

even though i lost 200$, over 3 years thats not at all bad.
with the 800$ i bought a velo sub, sinclair audio SB3600T's and a matching center (look at my other posts). now, already in less thank 2 months, i know the most ill prob get is around 600-700. over three years, it aint even worth selling.

so if theres one thing thats good about bose, is that the resale value is as i bought them for 1K

so lemme know
and for all the bose haters out there, i finally found one good thing about bose.

(this article is directed towards people who have their bose systems and want to sell them- "there is still hope, and as long as there are idiots out there who dont want to get educated, you can "sell ! Sell !! SELL!!

Well you know what they say, Stupid is as stupid does. And considering that theres an idiot born everyday, bose resale looks promising for some time to come :D I had a guy call me today wanting some advice on replacing his broken stereo, When he said he has a bose system... i cringed. lol.

If resale value is even in your top 5 reasons for purchasing a/v equipment you may want to reconsider which hobby you've taken up :p

I couldnt agree more,100% junk equipment with excellent resale value, for about a year i pushed accoustimass systems on ebay & made a ton of sweaty cash.

As long as your not using bose systems for actual music appreaciation its great stuff.

No kidding. You never know when the bottom is going to drop out on a particular piece of gear. There are some solids and unfortunately Bose is one of them but being in hobby retail, I haven't bought a single piece of Bose gear....and never will.

Like I always say you have to handed to BOSE's marketing company, sheer genius. A product sold on badge reputation only, the rest vapor.

My Paradigms will resale well, and in the meantime I can enjoy my audio without wincing every time I play something.

Many many other speaker brands resale well and that is usually a result of the fact that the speaker is of good quality. The reasons for Bose selling well after being used is based on different issues, and those buying it are those whom are usually eager to get into the audio world but haven't bothered to do much research.

Regardless, what you have just said still doesn't add any merit to Bose's products. If you are buying an inferior product knowingly and selling it for only a little less then you bought it for initially, you are still losing. Far better to simply forgo buying crap, buy quality, and still have a product that will resale well when you've decided to upgrade/move-on.

The marketing model alone should stand as the herald to the process.

ok ok, i suck at this.
in this thread, i was trying to make a joke and was being sarcastic. also, i was writing about my experience. i know there are other speakers that will sell just as well, but that would be to only a knowledged / smart person. if you go to the public and say would you like to buy paradigm's, most would be like...wtf is this guy. if you say Blose, then BAM, out of 100 people, you have about 60 who would say, yea i know that company.

once agian, i was just being sarcastic. in no way am i supporting blose. although i bought their stuff when i was in grd 9, but after 3 years, i sold em. now in grade 12, with a 800$ budget, i bought something a lot better. though there are better speaers in the 800$ range, but for now i lke what i hear.

I wasn't attacking your brand choice per se, only your self-stated reasoning behind the purchase itself.
And yes, I knew you were being ironic hence the ":p" at the end of my post.
Just poking back, that's all; take care.

I'm sure most people got the sarcasm as did I. The title is the kind of inflammatory rhetoric that you can't resist reading but the intent quickly became apparent.

One thing I will say is that I do agree that Bose marketing is superb. I have never owned anything Bose and never will but that is beside the point. I was at Best Buy with my Brother-in-law and he volunteered me to answer some guys question about hooking up the Bose proprietary speaker connectors to a normal receiver. I'm neve rude or condescening to people but the first thing I said was 'Why are you considering the bose'? (considering the need to butcher their proprietary setup to connect to a normal receiver).

The guy simply said 'Ummm...cause they sound good'. Ok there you have it. A neophyte that 'knows' they sound good and wasn't even considering anything else. So be it...

Their genius is that they market the products to women.

Even after 5 years of hearing about how bad Bose is, my wife still says "but they're so pretty".

They're lucky in that in technology, smaller is usually better. They can thus position their product as better technology. And lets face it, for most people, surround sound is a huge step up over TV speakers. They could care less about the quality of that sound and aren't willing to put up with a couple hundred pounds of audio equipment in their living room. They just want something that will impress their friends and is acceptable to their wife :)

I do admit that Bose's marketing is superb, but I would never support a company that completely rips off every one of their customers. I do see the point of the thread though. If anyone has anything Bose, or know's someone who does, it's good to know you can recoupe some of your cost and go out and buy something decent with it. Do it today!!!!! You owe it to yourself, and your ears. You've suffered long enough. Just do it! :D

amen brother.
i bought the acoustimass 15 II on clearance for 1K. this was back in Oct 04. for three years, i had this pain. i knew where the pain was comming from, but i didnt want to admit it. its like beauty, other people like it, but you dont like it yourself. i was presented with cheers on my accomplishment on buying Blose. then this one day, enough was enough. after going through the 5 stages, denial etc etc. i packed up the pain, and listed it on craigslist. in 2 days my pain was fore ever gone.
it was like that christian meetigns they have where they heal the people.
the devil was gone.

i sold them, and bought real speakers.
but i feel guilty....because the guy who i sold em to was a nice person.
but... with the resale value being soo good, i couldnt resist the temptation.
then i bought real speakers and voila.
i was cured.
