Guitar Amp Question

Hello,
I recently had a guitar amp given to me with a blown speaker.
On the back of the amp control box, it says it is 40W max and 8ohms.
I got another speaker and fitted it (35W 4ohms) and it works fine.
Is there any long term effects with running a 4ohm speaker with an 8ohm amp?
Many Thanks!

If the amp is not rated to run a 4 ohm load it can damage the amp. Might want to check with the manufacturer.

Any Celestion 8 ohm speaker will work. Make sure the speaker size and wattage are comparable as well.
