The cables are all tough and are cracking!

I had this happen to the left and right dedicated cables first, I ended up cutting off the outer jacketing to be able to use them again...now the main cable is doing it!

What the hell? this is the first time I have ever seen a cable degrade so fast...it's been just over a year and a half, and the cables are drying out?

As much as I like Grado....I might go buy Sennsheiser this time around, just for the replacable headphone cables....god this sucks.

....so, to make this thread constructive....anyone know of any good mods to add detatchable cables to grado cans? If I can find one, I might go buy those 325i cans I've been drooling about.

...s*cks, supersize...maybe they should be renamed bio-de-Grado...I've had two cables on my Senn HD414s since I purchased them in 1974...The original required replacement because of big feet and a drug-induced stupor...the second one has an inline volume control...so as long as I don't damage them, they look to be as good as the day they were installed...at least 20yrs. ago...

jimHJJ(...no more stupors, of any kind, for me...)

Yeah, the left slider fell off the headband yesterday....I ended up supergluing it back in place.

As much as I loved those Grados....I'm going HD-650 next time around....but I have to finish up my 2-channel project first.

So far, this is the short list for that setup:
Magnepan MMG
GAS "Son of Godzilla" amp (ancient, but solid...and affordable)

...now to get a decent preamp that my universal remote will play nice with, and I'm all set :)
