I have an old amp that needs to be grounded. My receiver a Harman Kardon AVR 240 has ground for its AM antenna. Can I use that? Or can I attach it to a grounding prong on a three-pronged plug or do I need to attach it to some plumbing or something....

What makes you think it needs to be grounded?

Amplifiers or preamplifiers that have a phono stage will have a connection on the back for a ground which you would use when attaching a turntable.

Does it buzz when not connected to your preamp? If not, then you have a ground loop, and we will need to know the total details of all connections in your set up.

If it buzzes with no input, try grounding it to the gound of your outlet. If it buzzes with no input then, it needs service and repair.
