I have recently had some problems with my JVC plasma. I have my STB attached through the component inputs, and there had been no issues until a couple of weeks ago. I turned on the tv and was confronted with a completely green screen. I was able to get the screen back to normal by 'wiggling' the component connectors at the monitor end. Last night that solution failed to work. I have been unable to get a picture back except by using the RGB setting. The problem is a horrendous green tinge. Any ideas?

I hope this is not the end of my plasma.

Try different cables and your composite feed. If it is NOT the cables (usually it is) then the component board inside the plasma may be going bad. Replacing that board should not be terribly expensive if it is out of warranty. It MAY be $500.00ish though. Don't know for sure as I'm not a tech, but I know that most plasmas use video cards on the back that slide into place. They are individual components that are farly easy to exchange and replace.

Sometimes - not always.

Crappers!

Hey Dirk, how long have you had your plasma? I just bought a JVC plasma a few weeks ago and I must say that I find this a bit disturbing! I had similar issues with my old JVC crt rear-projector, where it just started to have a really bad green "push" no matter how it was calibrated. Maybe I need to just take this thing back and buy the Pioneer while it is still within the 90 day grace period...

The Monitor has done 3900 hours so I guess I have had it for 18 months. It has been really good up until now.

component cable problem

That definitely sounds like a problem with one of the component cable connections. Since each cable brings in part of the color spectrum one or more being loose, results in lack of those colors. Check the connections at both ends to make sure that they are secure. Try a new set of component cables (really they can be 3 RCA cables). Also make sure each one is matched properly ie as Neil Young sings green to green red to red yellow to yellow. In the dark, its easy to mix up the blue and green cable. If its not that, part of the inner connection must be loose. I almost died when my new DLP projector displayed a bright bluish tinted screen when I was showing it off. Problem, one of my component cables had come undone. Solution, I plugged it back in good and tight. Voila, picture back
