"Great" monster cable "deal"

I didn't post this in the deals section because I thought it was more entertaining than anything. $100 off a monster cable 16' HDMI cable

Is that really what the retailers likely pay for these things or is newegg taking a loss here?

I'd bet that newegg paid quite a bit less than $30 for those. Just my guess.

I figured that monster cable probably would get a decent chunk of the $100+ cable price but I wouldn't be surprised if they let retailers have them cheaper for black friday.

The stores mark them up. When I worked at Circuit City, cost for Monster products was extremely low. That's where all the real money was, which is why they always wanted us to push that stuff.

Welcome to the real world of mark-up. Jewerly is just as bad. Burger King is losing money on their $1 double cheese burgers though.

Monster makes their money in VOLUME.
