Great Auth Dealer for Yamaha RX-Z9

Felt compelled to let fellow audioholics know of an outstanding experience I had in purchasing my Yamaha RX-Z9 through the authorized dealer Quality Sound & Video. Not only did I get a great price ($3,523.00) from the largest dealer in their territory, their staff communicated with me on a weekly basis as to order status. They not only sent emails and called me, I also recieved two personally signed letters via mail!! Each communication ended with 'Thanks for the opportunity to be of service'. I received my new Yammie in three weeks, and they let me know as soon as it shipped out, in addition to calling and emailing to make sure I was happy with everything. They were fantastic. These guys set up a lot of media systems in Churches. Sufficed to say that if your in the market for an RX-Z9 from an A-1 authorized dealer that really cares, communicates well, offers terrific pricing, you have to do yourself a favour and check out these guys website qualitysoundinc.com. I don't have their 800 number off the top of my head, but their website will have it. Ask for Mark Lynch - he's terrific.

Best,

Yeah, I bet they were nice, considering you spent $3500 on a receiver.

that's a pretty big price break given their list price on the thing. I wonder what kind of deal they could swing on a RX-V2400 :)...

Hi UMD-Terp,
They could probably give you a cracking price on the RX-V2400. You're right about the excellent price on the RX-Z9. I was getting 3,600.00 and up quotes from non-authorized dealers where I'd have to spend an extra 169.00 on a warranty, and that was not even Yamaha's official warranty, which means you'd have to trust that such a dealer will take care of any problems down the road. I'm really happy with the whole buying experience from Quality Sound & Video.
Ryche 1 - this dealer sells a lot of high end stuff, in fact the Yammie at 3,500.00 is definitely a low priced item that they sell. They provided great service because that is what they believe in, and not because they want to part me from my money..

Cheers

American Theater Systems from NJ has a similar price on the Z9. I haven't bought from them so I don't know about their service.

Beware of Buying from non-authorized dealers

Hi Jaycan,

If my memory serves me correctly American Theater Systems are not an authorized Yamaha dealer. They will sell you a warranty of thier own for $169.00. This is not a Yamaha warranty. If you purchase your unit from a non-authorized dealer, Yamaha will not honour their class leading 5 year warranty that comes s :) tandard with this excellent product.

Hmmm. They are very active on Audiogon and they replied to my email claiming to be an authorized Yamaha dealer. I guess I'll check with Yamaha before buying from anyone over the net. Of course I could go with your recommendation. Thanks for the heads up, O'Shag!

Cheers Jaycan,

You're definitely spot on the ball to double-check if online e-tailers are authorized. if your going to shell out the sort of cash we're talking about for 'Big Bertha' aka Z9, it pays to weigh options . At first glance online e-tailers sometimes seem like a bit of a bargain. With the additional warranty price though, or the up-the-creek-without-a-paddle factor in the event of a problem, or disqualification from potential freebee/low cost upgrades directly from Yamaha, then the deal doesn't seem so good at all.

Boils down to the unavoidable 'bought it of the back of a truck' factor, where you can never really be part of the 'official' club so to speak.

Its hard to turn down an offer to buy something off the back of a truck when the savings are just too good to pass up, but not for the sake of possibly saving a hundred or even two hundred quid.

Hope you manage to get the Z9 soon. You'll love it!

Cheers Mate!

Hello everybody! I checked Yamaha's website and Quality Sound and Video is not on the list of authorized dealers. I called Yamaha just to verify and they said if they're not on the list, then they're not an authorized dealer. It's possible that they maybe using a different company name from their website.
Anyway, I'm also in the market for a new receiver and I'm still debating if I should get the 5803a or the z9. They're equally excellent receivers, just can't make up my mind yet. I presently own a DSP-A1, so if I buy the z9, it will be almost the same thing.

Happy540i,

No - they're not listed under a different name, its just that your looking in the wrong place.

Don't worry mate, we'll get you there:)

I'm glad your taking the time and performing careful investigation to arrive at the product and source decision that works for you. Maybe I can give you and other members the opportunity to come out smiling as I have done. But take my good intentions for what there worth to you.

Back to Yamaha's site. The different dealer categories listed are easily overlooked. You'll find Quality Sound & Video ( in business since 1968 and Yamaha's largest authorized dealer in South Carolina ) under the INSTALLATION category. Meaning they don't just 'flog a box', they're technically competent, performing both commercial and residential installs. Check out their website qualitysoundinc.com. With the photo pictures of installations they've done over the years they start to look very solid, take a few minutes to enjoy the flash intro too.

My unit was shipped out from the Yamaha facility in Atlanta, Took me over three weeks to get it over here to So Cal but well worth the wait. It was like unpacking a Russian Doll - It was triple boxed!

If you move up to the Z9, you're in for an unbelievable treat. I did test the 5803a against the Z9.

The Z9 is superior to the Z1. Review the architecture and internal power components. For a start, the amplifier technology of the Z9 is better than the Z1. The Z1 rocks, but It's not on the same level of performance as its evolution product, and that is as it should be. There's no mistake. Yamaha designed the Z9 from the ground up for a single reason - to set a whole new performance standard in the HT receiver market, and they have acheived it IMOIO (in my over inflated opinion).

Ah, the Z9, what a system! I just watched Titan AE with my 8 year old son tonight, and the video upconversion to 1080i on my Loewe 38" TV provided a picture literally out of this world, and the groovy 9.1 channel audio (with presence speakers) is a fab experience. Even my son was blown away.

Let me know if things work out for you

Cheers BigEars!

Thanks for the update. I might consider the Z9 now if I can get a discount from this company.
