I just got her latest - "Grace Potter and the Nocturnals", which is actually at least her third CD. I'm a fan of Potter and her jammy band, having seen her live a couple times and liking her previous releases. Her style seems to have been heavily influenced by Janis Joplin and Bonnie Raitt, a classic blues-rock sound that really goes down well. Good songs, good production make this an enjoyable CD.

I've seen her a few times and have the previous albums. I was excited to hear about her working with T-bone Burnett on the latest album but after seeing her recently at the Burlington Jazz fest I must say the changes have not been for the better. She's gone all Hollywood and the edgy feel to their music seems gone. I'm really kind of bummed because she's got serious talent and to see it all kind tossed to the side while they give her new heels, short dress and a new hair cut.

It happens to the best of them, but I like the CD anyway. In the CD photos, she looks like she got on a make up show or something, but she still seems to have that awkwardness that I associate with Potter. Some of that probably has to do with her near blindness, but the music is pretty good.
