With the help of this site (esp Audioholics Store) I was able to put togther my dream system: Yamaha RX-V1800 Klipsch Ref RF 82 towers Klipsch Ref RC 62 Center Klipsch Ref RB 52 Bookshelf Klipsch Ref 10" sub Now that my folks have heard it they are hooked on that quality sound. Only problem is they don't like the bulky speakers. Now I have to put together a system that meets the following requirements: -5.1 sound in the living room 14'x18' -Bose size speakers or slightly larger -2 outdoor speakers to run to the gazebo out back. -Great sound quality at low to medium volume for music and movies -Price needs to be 3 grand or less When I put mine together, size was not an issue so I just went for what sounded good to me. I'm not too familiar with any of the smaller stuff available so I don't really know what is worth it and what isn't. They kind of like the BOSE system they heard at Best Buy, but I feel that there is much better stuff available for the money. Another thing is that they want to have music outside when they have guests over. I figured they would need a receiver with dual zone control like a Yamaha RX-V663 or similar. I warned them that they would not be able to run separate music outside if they went with one of the all-in-one BOSE systems.Would that be correct? Please offer any suggestions for smaller, quality 5.1 setups. The outdoor speakers aren't really a huge concern for now.
